-- Patients Will Benefit from Patient-Centered Medical Home Arrangement --
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) and Novant Health announced that they have reached agreement on a multi-year contract that ensures Novant’s continued participation in the Aetna network. Physicians and facilities affiliated with Novant Health will continue their participation without interruption.
Under the new agreement, Aetna and Novant have created a new value-based agreement for Novant’s certified Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH). Novant’s PCMH-certified practices will receive a care-management fee for providing a coordinated care approach for their attributed members. Additional compensation will be tied to meeting certain targets for improved quality and cost efficiency.
“We’re pleased to be working with Aetna to deliver care around a primary care patient-centered medical home approach. We’ve seen quality of care, patient experiences, care coordination and access are much better for patients with this model and we’re excited Aetna patients will continue to have access to this level of high-quality and cost-efficient care,” said Bob Seehausen, senior vice president for Novant Health.
"Aetna is delighted to reach an agreement that enables our members to continue receiving care from Novant facilities and physicians on an in-network basis," said Margie Maxwell, president of Aetna's North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee markets. “Under the PCMH approach, we’re strengthening our commitment to quality, and rewarding physicians who deliver it more consistently.”
