NEW ALBANY, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that it is adding 245 jobs at its New Albany facility as it expands to support new business. Hiring should begin in July.

“Aetna has experienced strong, consistent membership growth over the past several years,” said Mark Bertolini, Aetna’s president. “We expect to add more than one million new members this year and our expansion in New Albany will allow us to accommodate for this growth, as well as anticipated future growth.”

“We extend our thanks to the state and village for providing tax incentives and grants totaling up to $3.5 million to expand our operations in New Albany,” said Bertolini.

Aetna will make use of existing space in its approximately 162,000-square-foot facility in New Albany to house the new employees. Improvements will begin on the space next month and should be completed by July. Total capital investment for this expansion is projected to be $750,000, comprised of leasehold improvements, furniture and fixtures.

Aetna will hire care management nurses, health concierges, project managers and support staff. Salaries will range from approximately $25,000 to $85,000. The new positions will be posted over a several month period. Interested people are encouraged to perform a job search on Aetna’s website to see new jobs as they are posted: www.aetna.com/working.

“Central Ohio has an excellent pool of qualified labor. We already have approximately 1,000 highly qualified and dedicated employees at our New Albany facility and felt confident we would find more of the same if we chose to expand in New Albany,” Bertolini said.

Aetna began operations in New Albany in 1998 and has had a Columbus-area facility providing customer service since 1960. Aetna began selling health insurance in Ohio in 1899.
